Walking is such a great way to get exercise! I'm looking forward to warmer temperatures (and less snow) so I can start nightly walks again - I was doing about 4-6 miles a night last spring and it was great.
As for overeating, maybe start by making substitutions - baby carrots or celery sticks instead of chips and dip, an apple or orange instead of cookies. I've always found this to be helpful for me =)
